To make clean glass
substrates:
- Clean with acetone, methanol, ethanol and de-ionized
water (in that order) by sonicating substrate
for about five minutes in each.
- Dry completely using Nitrogen. Then dry for about ten
minutes under UV lamp.
To make phosphor screen for field emission anode:
- Clean an ITO glass substrate using standard
procedure.
- Mix appropriate amount of phosphor powder with
colloidal silver liquid and mix in just a little bit of silver to get a
paste of desired viscosity (so as to withstand the spin-coating). Place
the clean ITO glass substrate on the spin-coater. Start spin-coater with
vacuum turned on first for a few minutes.
- Once the ITO glass substrate adheres well to the
spin-coater, add the phosphor paste to it.
- Run the spin-coater for a few minutes until an opaque
film of phosphor is formed on the substrate.
- Anneal the ITO glass with the paste at 200ºC for 1
hour.
Note: If
phosphor film does not turn out well, wash substrate with acetone and redo the
above procedure.
